At Riverchapel NS, we are proud to have an active and enthusiastic Student Council, giving our pupils an opportunity to have their voices heard and to play an important role in school life.

Each September, pupils in 3rd to 6th classes select representatives from among their classmates. Our Student Council members serve for one school year and take on the responsibility of listening to the ideas, suggestions and concerns of their fellow pupils and bringing these to the attention of the wider school community. 

Throughout the year, our Student Council members:

-Listen to pupil voice and share suggestions and ideas from their classmates.

-Help make positive changes within our school by discussing pupils’ ideas and identifying ways to improve school life.

-Organise fundraising activities to support the school and contribute to special projects and initiatives.

-Represent Riverchapel NS at school events and help promote our school values.

-Develop leadership skills, confidence, communication and teamwork.

Why is our Student Council important?:

Student Councils are an important part of creating a school community where every pupil feels that their ideas and opinions matter. They give children a genuine opportunity to participate in decisions that affect their school and to learn that their voice can make a difference.

Being part of the Student Council also helps pupils develop valuable skills such as responsibility, listening, cooperation, problem-solving, decision making and leadership. It encourages our children to become active and responsible members of their school community and helps them understand the importance of working together to make positive changes.

Most importantly, our Student Council helps ensure that pupil voice is at the heart of school life at Riverchapel. We are very proud of our Student Council members and look forward to seeing the ideas, energy and enthusiasm they bring to our school throughout the year.
